Answers and Elaboration
by  Ray Jerrems and Donald Jerrems

I enjoyed reading this edition of the Jerrems Journal.  I was just curious about the photo at the end excuse my ignorance but I don't actually know who Laurel is.   (Ed: See Laurel and Laurie's Notice below.)

Does anyone know from what time period is the photo?  I've got a historical/cultural question for anyone who can answer it.  What clothing is this man/women wearing (see attachment).  It looks kind of like a colourful priest. Cheers, Ari

Ray's Response: Laurel thinks that the lady holding a baby in the foreground could be her mother, which dates the photo in the early 1930s if she is holding one of her daughters. Laurel is 10 years older than me and remembers people further back than me.  If she cannot place them then I have no hope.

There is only one person left of the generation prior to Laurel's generation who might be able help identify somebody in the photo, being Doug's mother (Ari's grandmother).

The people in the 1915 photo are from an old South Australian arm of the family, so the bearded men are very unlikely to be same person.

Ray's Note: Laurel is my second cousin; we share a common great grandfather Charles, one of the family that migrated from Gainsborough to Australia in the 1850s.

Editor's Note: Laurie Gray and Laurel (Jerrems) Gray will celebrate their golden wedding on 14-4-07 at the Uniting Church Hall Gerringong NSW 11.30 am to 5.pm. They are looking forward to having about 60 of their immediate family present plus quite a few friends.

Another very interesting and exciting newsletter!  I enjoyed it immensely.  Don't know how you find the time to do so much research.  Thanks for including me on your subscription list!  What a surprise to find German ancestors also probing into similar backgrounds. Keep up the good work. Hugs, JennyJ

Regarding the Second Hand Coat in a Baltimore Shop:
What devotion!  Very impressive tenacity and interesting results.
About whether or not Dan bought the garment, I don't remember.  (I don't recall his ever mentioning even having seen it!)  Why don't you ask him?
Best regards, Caty Jeanne (Dan's Mom)

Second Hand Coat - The Rest of the Story
Where is it Now?
by Dan Jerrems, Baltimore USA

Dan is to provide the story and picture! Here is what we have so far:

Oh, yes, I bought it. At the time (20 years ago, now), it fit perfectly. Now it seems to have become tighter for some reason I really can't figure out...

So it hangs in my closet, waiting until it decides it is ready to fit my growing young son, Daniel Lee Jerrems, II, now 9 years old.

Letters to the Editor  (Baisingen above; Vollmaringen below)
Our German Connection
by Donald Jerrems
 Donald,

Thanks a lot for the latest Jerrems newsletter and your interesting letter on the Hoerber pedigree which arrived by mail yesterday. Do you still have contact with the Hoerbers?

So, we are connected through your grandmother Rosalind Wollensak. I wonder what she looked like. Do you happen to have a picture of her?

Vollmaringen and Baisingen are "twin-villages" south-west of Stuttgart in Germany. I have attached pictures.

Could you please mail me your Gainsborough ancestor line starting with William George Jerrems back to the beginning? Many thanks.

With best regards, Gregory
